一莲宣涟，是译廉宣廉的谐音。字面意思为一朵莲花掀起涟漪，意在通过翻译廉洁人物、廉洁故事这件事情，在学校掀起廉政建设宣传教育的新浪潮。

杨震暮夜却金

杨震，字伯起，陕西华阴人，是东汉时期著名的学者。他五十岁入仕，为官清廉，两袖清风，后来位至三公。

杨震做过荆州刺史，后调任为东莱太守。他去东莱上任时路过昌邑，昌邑县令王密是杨震任职荆州刺史时举荐过的官员。王密听说杨震路过，为报答当年提携之情，白天空手去见了杨震，晚上则准备了十斤金子想送给杨震。王密说:“现在是深夜没人知道”。杨震却说，“天知、地知、我知、你知，怎么能说没有人知道呢？”王密听后很惭愧。

杨震为官清廉，他的子孙们与百姓一样，素菜为食，徒步往来，不乘马车，生活十分简朴。有老朋友、长辈劝他为子孙购置产业，杨震说:“让以后的世人称他们是清官的子孙，我用这个留给他们，不是也很丰厚吗？”因为“四知拒金”的故事，后人称杨震为“杨四知”“四知太守”，直到明代的莱州府署大门内，还有杨公祠、四知堂。

Yang Zhen’s Midnight Refusal of Gold

Yang Zhen, courtesy name Boqi, was a native of Huayin in Shaanxi Province and a famous scholar during the Eastern Han Dynasty. He entered civil service at the age of fifty, and was known for his upright and incorruptible nature. Later, he rose to the rank of one of the Three Excellencies.

Yang Zhen served as the Inspector of Jingzhou and was later transferred to be the Governor of Donglai. On his way to Donglai, he passed through Changyi. Wang Mi, the magistrate of Changyi, had been recommended by Yang Zhen when he was the Inspector of Jingzhou. Upon hearing that Yang Zhen was passing through, Wang Mi visited him empty-handed during the day but prepared ten catties of gold to give to Yang Zhen at night, intending to repay him for his help in the past. Wang Mi said, “It’s late at night and no one will know.” But Yang Zhen replied, “Heaven knows, earth knows, I know, you know, how can you say no one knows?” Wang Mi felt deeply ashamed upon hearing this.

Yang Zhen lived a life of simplicity, and his descendants followed his example, eating plain food and traveling on foot without the use of carriages. Old friends and elders advised him to buy properties for his descendants, but Yang Zhen said, “Let future generations call them the descendants of an upright official. Is this not a generous legacy?” Because of the story of “Refusing Gold for Four Knows,” later generations referred to Yang Zhen as “Yang Si Zhi (杨四知)” and “Si Zhi Taishou (四知太守).” Even during the Ming Dynasty, there was a Yang Gong Temple and Si Zhi Hall within the gate of Laizhou Prefectural Office.
